"God’s love calls us to move beyond fear"

As you probably already know, Pope Francis was called home to be with Jesus. The Pope’s death brings a spirit of sadness to all of us during this Easter Season. All of us at CTA have been and will continue to be inspired in the words and works of Pope Francis. This Pope lived a life of the Gospel; by challenging our actualization of the faith and its teaching. Since his election in 2013; Pope Francis has continued to be a light in the world.

There are so many highlights: upon being asked about gay priests, he responded with, “If someone is gay and he searches for the Lord and has good will, who am I to judge?. He was the first Pope to address the United States Congress where he highlighted Dorothy Day and Thomas Merton. He washed the feet of 12 women inmates at a prison in Rome. He named Sister Simona Brambilla as head of the Dicastery for the Institutes of Consecrated Life and Societies of Apostolic Life. He wrote Laudato Si and then installed solar panels at the Vatican. He welcomed Syrian refugee families to live there. And he called the Catholic Church in Gaza every evening, even during his recent time in the hospital.

Please join me in prayer for Pope Francis and commit to living out his legacy and the groundwork he laid for a more inclusive Catholic Church in our chapters and working groups at Call to Action.

Black Moses is the Call to Action Executive Director. He is based in New Orleans.
