Happy Easter!

Art by Ramoncito Razon. From the artist: Throughout and regardless space and time Jesus of Nazareth has carried each of us in his heart, soul, body, and mind. Jesus irrevocably seeks out our complete safety and welfare, and the best outcomes that can give us lasting joy. Stripped off his clothes, Jesus is vulnerable yet Jesus never seeks to distance himself and that becomes piercing and real in the crisis we face today. In this depiction, Kairos more than Chronos -- takes hold of the opportune moment in which Jesus, simultaneously baring himself, stripped, dying, and resurrecting all at the same time in this singular moment, shows up in the midst of our fears and heartaches.

Today, Mary Magdalene and the Apostles find the tomb empty. Jesus and the faithful have had the last laugh. The evil one, the powerful, thinks they have the last laugh. Yet, the Tomb was Empty! The tomb where we place the poor, women, people of color, will be empty one day! As Jesus’s Tomb was empty, so were the plantations after the emancipation. This is our faith. Liberation from the tombs in which the powerful place us. The Celebration of Easter is our reminder that freedom will come to all one day. St. Oscar Romero said that “Easter is a shout of victory!”
