Retreat with Matthew Fox inspires Floridians

CTA in South Florida organized a hugely successful retreat day with Matthew Fox last week. The organizers reached out to Christians of many denominations for the interfaith retreat. They had to close registration at 230 people, and invited the rest to join them at the liturgy which followed the retreat, a Mass co-celebrated by Matthew and a local Roman Catholic Woman Priest from Mary Mother of Jesus Catholic Community.

Imogene, a local organizer, says the event was so successful because they "networked with God and everyone else" in order to make it a truly interfaith Christian space and because they had a really great group or volunteers and planners who made the event come together. She hope's that CTA's sponsorship of the retreat will foster support for more spiritual retreats in the future. "Matthew just takes everything and twists it around, and I love it!" she said, giving the example of his idea of "original blessing" instead of original sin.  The chapter has hosted many speakers in the past and plans to do so again, so make sure to check them out if you're in Florida!
