October and November Working Groups

Conversations at CTA Conference in San Antonio, 2018

Conversations at CTA Conference in San Antonio, 2018

Since June, our four strategy working groups have been building toward Advent. We are now entering the home stretch of our National Campaign. In these final months of Ordinary Time, we invite you to step into our work for justice. All are welcome, regardless of previous involvement. Projects are taking shape…

  • Energy is building around alternative liturgies. Members of the alternatives group are developing a liturgy of lament for people who are leaving the institutional church, a group of 2020 Re/Generators is creating a series of queer-led liturgies, and our immigration justice working group is imagining a Guadalupen liturgy for early December.

  • With the support of Women’s Ordination Conference Executive Director Kate McElwee, our direct action group is focused on ordination justice.

  • Our education group is supporting the other three strategy groups, sharing resources and conducting research.

  • The lobbying working group is building energy around a handful of projects. Several anti-racist projects have emerged from this group, including a campaign to counteract diocesan alliances with far-right Catholic media.

  • Anti-racist projects intersect with all four strategy working groups. We are encouraged by the reception of Natalie Lall’s anti-racism 101 project in Kenosha churches, while Nadia Busekrus and John Noble are organizing our upcoming call to power-map the USCCB on anti-racism.

These projects — and more! — reflect the “ecosystem” of strategies for change that we have cultivated this year. Register for our upcoming meetings now. After registering, you will receive a confirmation email from Zoom with the link to join the meeting. Sign up to receive email updates about the working groups here.
