Join us for fellowship with families of LGBT Catholics
The Fortunate Families national board will be in Chicago on August 16 and will host an open forum, dinner and prayer service for Catholics with LGBT family members. "We'd like to share our stories as Catholic families of LGBT children and hear about your advocacy work," says the Board, who invite you to "be our guests as we reach out to those in the greater Chicago area; get to know Listening Parents and meet any other interested people."
Fortunate Families is our partner in the Equally Blessed Coalition. Their retreats, books and Listening Parents Network offers support to parents whose children are lesbian, gay, bisexual, transgender or queer. The destructive teachings of the institutional Church hurt not only those of us who are LGBT but also those who love us, as they struggle to reconcile the faith they cherish with the family they love. Fortunate Families is an important resource to our community as they work to heal those wounds and empower families to stand with those they love and build a better Church.
