Bishop Patricia Fresen to visit MI

Patricia Fresen, one of the first Roman Catholic women bishops, will be speaking in Michigan. Our chapter and their partners are hosting Bishop Fresen for two days, this is an event you won't want to miss!

Beth, who helped organize the event, says their group is always seeking to advance the cause of full equality for women, which means being able to receive all the sacraments, including ordination. So they were excited when Bishop Fresen agreed to spend a day of her trip the the US with their group. Bishop Fresen was living in South Africa during the time that she discerned her call to ordained ministry, Friday's talk will include her inspiring personal story and reflection on the impact that the anti-apartheid movement had on her own work for women's equality. On Saturday, participants will have an opportunity to learn from her deep knowledge of theology and scripture. Bishop Fresen was a professor at several seminaries before her ordination forced her to lose those positions. Her expertise and engaging style have made her a popular retreat leader, lecturer and preacher around the world and we are looking forward to her visit to Michigan!

If you're in the area, you can find more details on our events calendar.
