CTA Nebraska 20th Anniversary Conference: Keynote Excerpts

Tom Roberts, Editor-at-Large at National Catholic Reporter gave a keynote at CTA Nebraska’s 20th Anniversary Conference on April 2, 2016. In this excerpt from his talk, Roberts connects his recent biography of Joan Chittister, subtitled," Her journey from certainty to faith", with the evolution of the church as a whole, and how we, as a people “thrown into the vortex of change” may look toward the future.

“Change happens whatever the intentions of historical actors, even infallible ones.”

Here’s an excerpt from Sr. Miriam Therese Winters keynote address at CTA Nebraska’s 20th Anniversary Conference on April 2, 2016. Winters recounts her spiritual journey from working and speaking all over the world, including the insights that came from speaking at Call To Action’s national conference 20 years ago, 3 weeks after a radical mastectomy.

“I have been ordained by the spirit of God to celebrate the liturgy of life. I am telling you that now because that has been a metaphor that has defined me and given me permission to stay in the space I’m in and let me evolve as spirit leads me in this framework. That there is an ordination that is deeper. And to each of we us have a call. . . I will know how to live out that call by the life that I live.”

*note: We accidentally cut off her last beautiful line, “Forget the breasts, it’s alright, go for the wings!”
