Karen Gargamelli-McCreight: A Call for Community

This is the third session of Answering the Call: An Advent Retreat for 2020, a virtual retreat organized by members of Call To Action’s Re/Generation 2020 cohort. Karen Gargamelli-McCreight speaks on A Call for Community.

Answering the Call

For those seeking a restorative space to reconnect to: organizing for social justice, spiritual practice and self-care, and cultivating community within a faith-based space, we invite you to participate in this three-part Advent retreat. In our current world and church, where there is a dire need for more justice, more spiritual care, and more community, Answering the Call is a space for those looking to reflect, restore, and rejuvenate.

Over the course of the last three Sundays in Advent, we will gather virtually to share in the wisdom of learned speakers, practitioners, and fellow seekers. Through talks, spiritual practices, and group reflection we hope to provide a centering space as we decide how we as a church and society are to move forward. Aptly timed during the season of Advent, where are you being called to “say yes,” as Mary once did in her own annunciation? Where are we being called to reconnect in the areas of social justice, spiritual practice, and community?
