What's Happening in Philly
As I am sure we all are aware, Pope Francis is coming to the United States for a visit. The World Meeting of Families will be held in Philadelphia the week prior to the Pope’s arrival in that city. Well folks, it is next week! Here are some of the highlights of what is happening that is specific to LBGT inclusion and Call To Action:
On Sunday, September 20 there will be a prayer vigil at 3:30 pm in Sister Cities Park, 210 N 18th St.
On Tuesday, September 22 from 10:00-11:00 a.m. there will be a press conference to introduce Equally Blessed pilgrim families who are attending the World Meeting of Families to the public at the Arch Street United Methodist Church, 55 North Broad St. Later on Tuesday, from 7:00-9:00 p.m. there will be a workshop: LGBTQ Spirituality & Catholic Identity: Future Directions and Needs at the Arch Street United Methodist Church, 55 North Broad St.
On Wednesday, September 23 and Thursday, September 24 from 7:00-8:30 p.m. there will be "Listening Sessions" for parents at the William Way LGBT Community Center, 1315 Spruce St. Also on Thursday, from 7:00-9:00 p.m. there will be a workshop: LGBTQ Spirituality & Catholic Identity: Future Directions and Needs at the Arch Street United Methodist Church, 55 North Broad St.
On Friday, September 25 from 7:00-9:00 p.m. Call To Action is hosting “Conversation and Cake” at the Arch Street United Methodist Church, 55 North Broad St. On Saturday, September 26 from 8:30 a.m. - 1:00 p.m. there is a workshop: Exploring Gender Identity at the Arch Street United Methodist Church, 55 North Broad St. That afternoon, from 3:30-6:30 p.m., we will be distributing inclusive family prayer cards to be shared with people at the Festival of Families at the Arch Street United Methodist Church, 55 North Broad St. And that evening, from 9:00-11:00 p.m., there will be a social gathering with music, snacks, and soda at the Arch Street United Methodist Church, 55 North Broad St.
