TX chapter leaders plan collaborative work
In the first gathering of its kind, leaders from four of our CTA chapters in the Lone Star State met last weekend in Austin to build community and plan collaborative work. Leaders brought passion and experience to the gathering; the San Antonio chapter is one of CTA's newest, while leaders in Dallas have been at it for over 20 years! Leaders from the Rio Grande valley drove 6 hours to be at the meeting and were proud that CTA, though often associated with the Midwest, is strong and growing in their state.
The chapter leaders were excited to talk about how they can work together not only on church reform issues but on building a more just world in their home state. Issues of marriage equality, the death penalty, access to healthcare and border policies were all discussed as ways to work together both with one another and with other faith based groups in TX. Our chapters bring together progressive Catholics to work creatively on a multitude issues nationally, regionally and locally and we are always adding more chapters to our map!
