Standing with the Sisters

As part of the NunJustice Coalition, Call To Action has helped draft a letter to the Pope, reminding him that we stand with the sisters and insisting that the offensive mandate be removed. We are asking YOU to print a copy of the letter and send it to him. Let's make sure he receives a huge pile of these!  You can also sign on to the electronic letter and join your support with thousands of others.

The women of the LCWR and Dr. Elizabeth Johnson are the inspiring leaders our Church needs.  If Pope Francis truly believes, as he says, that women are vital to our Church, he should issue an apology to LCWR and to Elizabeth Johnson. Last week, the head of the Congregation for the Doctrine of the Faith, Archbishop Muller, published a statement reprimanding the LCWR for honoring Dr. Elizabeth Johnson, a well respected theologian and leader.  You can read the wonderful response from the leadership of the LCWR, which expresses their commitment to dialogue despite the breakdown in trust, here. We believe women in our Church deserve to be celebrated, so sign the letter today and share it with your friends!
