CTA and the CTA Immigration WorkGroup invite you to a workshop presented by NETWORK, the Lobby for Catholic Social Justice. Known most recently for its "Nuns on the Bus" campaigns, NETWORK has been engaged for decades in being the voice for the social justice teachings of the church in Washington, DC.

Lobbying is attempting to influence the actions, policies, or decisions of those in power, particularly government officials. At this workshop, we will learn how to lobby on immigration policies and practices. No prior experience or involvement is necessary.

The event will be in two parts:

  • Ronnate Asirwatham, Government Relations Director who leads NETWORK’s immigration work, will discuss what’s happening at the U.S. Southern border and provide a policy briefing on the state of immigration issues in Congress.

  • Meg Olson, Grassroots Mobilization Director for NETWORK, will walk the group through different ways that they can “educate, organize, and lobby [which isn’t just visiting your lawmakers]” on immigration issues.

There will be a Q&A after each part.
