Ministering to All God’s Families
For decades Catholics have urged the institutional church to open up opportunities for dialogue on issues related to the well-being of all Catholic families. This year, Pope Francis has called an Extraordinary General Assembly of the Synod of Bishops on the theme “The Pastoral Challenges of the Family in the Context of Evangelization” to take place October 5-19, 2014.
An Opportunity to Reflect, Dialogue, and Pray
We are the Church! As the Bishops and the rest of the Church (us!) prepare for the Synod, Call To Action will host several webinars (online conversations) to explore the joys and challenges facing diverse families in the modern world.
What pastoral issues are facing today's families?
How can we better minister to the diverse needs of our communities?
How might we extend the healing ministry of the church to those who need it?
Will you join the conversation and help bring people together to create a more welcoming community? Let us reflect, dialogue, and pray together as we remain open to the Spirit's new energy!
Each webinar session will be accompanied by a reflection guide that will encourage us to think creatively about improving our ministry diverse families. These guides could be used by parishes, small faith-sharing groups, or simply over dinner to spark conversation and begin some deep thinking around our church and these topics. We then invite individuals and groups to join us for the webinars and interact with Catholics all over the world in sharing their experiences, learning from and supporting each other.
We can build a more welcoming, inclusive, and responsive church that meets the needs of all families. Please join us in cultivating a better church!
Each conversation will be introduced by a host with firsthand experience, then participants will be invited to share their own insights, questions and stories using this interactive virtual meeting format.Information on how to access the webinar (virtual meeting room) will be emailed to those who have registered several days in advance of the session.
