Join CTA Maryland’s Racial Justice Circle Movement!
Planting Seeds of Racial Justice in our Church and Society
In the Call To Action Maryland’s Mission Statement, it states, “We will listen to all voices and act in solidarity with those who continue to suffer because of racism, oppression, and discrimination.”
To live out the words of our mission, CTA MD planned two community events – “Planting Seeds of Racial Justice” in June 2014 and “Racism, Immigration, and the Latino Community” in October 2015. Growing out of these events came the Racial Justice Circles. Racially diverse members of the RJCs have nurtured these “seeds” through prayer, story sharing, education, and planning for growth of the “Circle Movement” throughout the parishes of the Baltimore Archdiocese.
Call To Action Maryland is proud of the two Racial Justice Circles. The first Circle continues to address the issues of racism and privilege in society. The newer Circle is focusing on racism and immigration in the Latino Community. Both meet monthly with the goal of creating educational programs including community out reach. We are beginning to hold what we call “meaningful conversations about racism” in parishes located in the Archdiocese.
Our next program is being held in partnership with the Northeast Catholic Social justice Committee. Together we will present “Cracking the Codes: The System of Racial Inequality.” The program will run for four Monday evenings throughout October and November 2016 and is open to all! We encourage you to attend.
