For Immediate Release: October 23, 2013

Call To Action, the country’s largest organization working for equality and justice in the Catholic Church today, will gather for its annual conference November 1-3, 2013 in Milwaukee, WI.

The conference theme, Living our Baptismal Call, focuses on the diverse and myriads ways Catholics are living out their faith. The conference will explore ways we – together – stand in solidarity as sisters and brothers committed to our faith and transformational change in the church and world. The weekend’s conference, with its many presentations, exhibits, workshop opportunities and caucuses will inspire and further equip Catholics to act for justice and build inclusive communities. Key sessions include:

Anchored in Hope: Navigating the Path of Conscience
Pre-conference with Charles Curran, Jeannine Gramick, Johanna Hatch, and Roy Bourgeois

The Future of Catholic Ministry: Plenary Panel Discussion
Roy Bourgeois, Diana Hayes, Jamie Manson, Garry Wills, and Maureen Fiedler

Unleashing the Spirit: The Inside Story
Keynote address by Sister Miriam Therese Winter

Pope Francis’ recent remarks (e.g., gay and lesbian Catholics, women in the Church, etc.) will be a significant topic of conversation amongst conference participants. These comments and attendee dialogue is certain to inform the major keynote addresses, presentations, workshops, etc.

In what ways are progressive Catholics responding to Pope Francis’ recent remarks?

This is a crucial time in the Catholic Church. As Pope Francis seeks to reform and renew the faith, learn more about the church justice movement and the many ways Catholics are already cultivating just and inclusive faith communities. Interview our major presenters, talk to our members, listen to spirited dialogue and experience the energized sense of change and transformation afoot in the Church today.
