Fr. Flannery arrives in the US

This week, Fr. Tony Flannery arrived in Washington DC to begin his packed full U.S. speaking tour. The Irish priest will be visiting 18 cities across the country to speak about the importance of conscience and his own journey as a priest working to create a more transparent and welcoming Church. Fr. Tony will be writing about his experience on his blog, where you can follow his journey. Before leaving for the trip he wrote "I am really looking forward to it. I know it will be exhausting, but it will also be a wonderful experience. I will meet a great many of the significant Church reform people in the States, and Iā€™m sure I will learn a lot from them."

On his first day in the U.S. he met with representatives of many Church reform organizations to chat about the U.S. movement and the tour logistics, for the next month his schedule will be packed with media interviews, public speaking events and private meetings with priests and reformers. The tour was sponsored and planned by a coalition of several groups, including Call To Action. In each city, the event was coordinated by dedicated local activists who made sure venues were found, the event was advertised and arrangements made for Tony's stay.
