Denver Call To Action Chapter
The Denver Chapter of Call To Action recently hosted an event focused on Pope Francis’ encyclical, Laudato Si. A panel of three presenters spoke about the practical implications and personal opportunities this focus on the environment can offer. It was held on Saturday, September 19 at the Unitarian Church in Denver, Colorado. And, considering yesterday was the Feast of St. Francis of Assisi, a lover of all of God’s creation, I thought it would be good to share comments and pictures of the event today.
The organizer of the gathering, Marcie Dahlen, had this to say about it, “There were only 42 in attendance, but the feedback was excellent. Great speakers, provocative questions, gave us much to think about.” A participant, Joy Poirot, brought the message of the day into her personal life. “I found the event informative and provocative. Hearing about the Loretto Community’s divestment of fossil fuels inspired me to look at my own investments and to consider what I can do personally in that area.”
David Stang, another participant, offered his feedback. “Thanks, Marcie, for the great conference yesterday and all those who participated in putting it together. I appreciate your very hard work to encourage people to come to these conferences or to even be involved. I thought all three people gave excellent comments on this great document Laudato Si.” When people come together to talk about faith in action in our world, it is always a good day!
