Courageous sister talks with New England Catholics

Sr. Theresa Kane, who once led the LCWR and spoke with the Pope about women's equality in ministry, spoke with over 150 people who gathered on Cape Cod last week. Kathy, who helped organize the evening, said the crowd was very energized and that they got great publicity from local media beforehand, even being featured as a "best bet" in the paper's entertainment section.

To start off the evening, attendees watched the movie Band of Sisters. Sr. Kane is one of the featured women in this movie about the transformative social justice work of American nuns. After the movie, a discussion with Sr. Kane and a local sister gave all those at the event time to ask questions and discuss the film and her inspiring life. People attended from as far away as Boston and Cambridge, as well as across the Cape Cod region; donations were collected to help Sr. Kane with her ministries and the proceeds from the nearly 170 tickets sold will go straight into the next. In response to the feedback they received, the local CTA organizers envision a longer event with more time for discussion.
