Justice-minded young Catholics socialize in Chicago

Earlier this month, nearly 100 young adults gathered for beers and socializing at a brewery in a trendy Chicago neighborhood. But this wasn't just your typical weeknight: these folks were here to meet others like them, young Catholics who put social justice at the center of their lives.

The event, hosted by CTA friend 8th Day Center for Justice, was attended by many who live in intentional communities, work in ministry and politics or who are living in Chicago for a year of service organized by a religious order. Others were there to learn more about getting involved in campaigns for justice and peace supported by 8th Day, like those advocating immigration reform, an end to the death penalty and environmental justice.

The next social event hosted by 8th Day Center, their annual Revel in the Revolution fundraiser, is expected to draw over 250 people and features keynote speaker José López, the Executive Director of the Puerto Rican Cultural Center and the presentation of the 4th Annual Mary Elsbernd Award to Rasmea Odeh of the Arab American Action Network. We can't wait!
