Vision appeal: 20/30 project for mentoring and leadership
2017 was a transformative year for Call To Action. We welcomed new staff, held three successful regional conferences, and founded new programs which are built to offer strong Catholic resistance to the violence and exclusion that that has taken hold of our country and church. We faced our challenges together, we moved with the spirit--as all faithful people hope to do in challenging times, and it made us stronger. Our seeds are planted for the future.
If 2017 was the year for planting, 2018 is the year we begin harvesting the fruits of our labor. And so, I am excited to write to you about one program that will be the centerpiece of our work in the new year.
The 20/30 Project for Mentoring and Leadership will mentor, empower and educate a diverse cohort of young adult Catholics as they learn about the rich history of Catholic social teaching and discern their vocation as social justice leaders. Our Young Adult Leaders will participate in a three day retreat with Call To Action, then return home to be mentored by veteran Catholic social justice activists who will guide and support the young leaders in self-selected projects that bring faith to activism and activism to faith. The cohort will then travel to our 2018 National Conference where they will present their work and share what they learned with our wider community.
Applications for Young Adult Catholic Leaders and Mentors is now open. I invite you to learn more about this exciting program at cta-usa.org/youngleaders and pass this information along to any young Catholic leader in your life.
The 20/30 Project for Mentoring and Leadership is one important way that CTA is investing in the future of our movement. By passing our skills and wisdom along to the next generation-- and by taking the time to learn about their values, methods and ideas-- we are laying a strong foundation for our future. More than 40 years after our founding, we have the opportunity to thoughtfully, strategically train and empower the leaders who will guide Call To Action in the next 10, 20, and 40 years.
I hope that you’ll join us during this exciting turning point in our organization by making a donation in support of our work. Your contributions are a direct investment in the next generation of Catholic leadership, and will help Call To Action continue to be a strong voice for justice and inclusion in our church and world.
Thank you for your support. Because of you Call To Action is now poised to transform the plans we made last year into bold action, and we hope you’ll join us for this next exciting next step in our journey.
In peace,
Zach Johnson
