St. Mary's Academy Rescinds Anti-gay Policy

Wonder what church justice looks like? Yesterday, news broke about a newly hired St. Mary's Academy counselor, Lauren Brown, losing her job when she disclosed to school officials that she is a lesbian. In a dramatic turnaround after mounting public pressure, St. Mary's Academy rescinded its anti-gay employment policy. The Academy's statement includes: "St. Mary's is a diverse community that welcomes and includes gay and lesbian students, faculty, alumnae, parents, and friends, including those that are married.  We are proud of our work preparing the next generation of women leaders for service and leadership.  We are still deeply committed to our Catholic identity."

Call To Action stands in solidarity with Lauren Brown, St. Mary's Academy, and the entire community that so quickly rallied to produce a just outcome. When communities come together for the common good transformation happens! Please join me in expressing support to the school for doing the right thing.
